Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 1960) was an American actor. Her name has been praised for her TV and film performance since the 1980s. Her accolades comprise the two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was brought up by her aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She was born and raised within New York New York.
